Delete Your Account
This page explains how to delete your SpendMind account and what happens to your data. You can delete your account directly from within the app.
How to Delete Your Account
Follow these steps to request deletion of your SpendMind account:
- Enter your current password to verify your identity
- Type "DELETE" to confirm you understand this action
- Optionally provide a reason for leaving (to help us improve)
30-Day Recovery Period
After submitting your deletion request, you have 30 days to recover your account if you change your mind. Simply log back in with your email and password during this period, and your account will be automatically restored.
After 30 days, your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
What Data Will Be Deleted
When your account is permanently deleted (after the 30-day grace period), the following data will be removed from our servers:

| Collaboration Data | Deleted | Your collaborator status on shared budgets (budgets shared with you by others will remain for other collaborators) |
| Achievements & Streaks | Deleted | All badges earned, challenges completed, and usage streaks |
| Subscription Data | Deleted | Premium subscription records (you must cancel through App Store/Play Store separately) |
| Notification Preferences | Deleted | Push notification tokens and settings |
| Activity History | Deleted | All app activity logs and usage history |
What Data May Be Retained

| System Categories | Retained | Default budget categories are shared across all users and are not personal data |
| Anonymized Analytics | Retained | Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics |
| Legal Records | Retained (if applicable) | Records required by law may be retained for the legally mandated period |
- Active Subscriptions: If you have an active premium subscription, please cancel it through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before deleting your account to avoid continued charges.
- Data Export: Before deleting your account, you may want to export your budget data using the export feature in the app (available in PDF or Excel format).
- Shared Budgets: If you own shared budgets, they will be deleted for all collaborators. Consider transferring ownership first if others need continued access.
Email Notifications
During the deletion process, you will receive the following email notifications:
- Immediate: Confirmation that your deletion request was received
- 7 days before permanent deletion: Final warning with option to recover your account
- After permanent deletion: Confirmation that your account has been permanently deleted
Recovering Your Account
If you want to recover your account during the 30-day grace period, simply:
- Open the SpendMind app
- Log in with your email and password
- Your account will be automatically restored with all your data intact
